Now in its second year, Red Wednesday is the centre of a week of activities to show solidarity with persecuted Christians, organised by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). This year, it falls on 22nd November. Resources for 2017 are no longer available, but see the ACN website for news of the 2018 event
Red Wednesday shines a light on Christian persecution but also highlights the injustices perpetrated against other faith groups. The resources include a lesson plan, which can be adapted to use for all secondary year groups , with a quiz and other activities, PowerPoint slides and notes for teachers, and two assemblies.
While ACN encourages schools, parishes and other groups to mark Red Wednesday on 22nd November, there is material in the resources that is useful in helping young people address the issues of religious persecution at any time.
UPDATE: Red Wednesday 2018 will be on 28th November – read ACN’s news about the 2018 event so far here.
