The next Flame youth gathering will now take place on Saturday 19 March 2022 at the SSE Arena, Wembley- so save the date now!
It will come as no surprise that Flame 2021, planned for 6 March, has been postponed. This decision was as taken because schools and parishes will take some time to arrive at a new normal in the Autumn Term, and with all of their focus needed for the transition, planning for attending a major event the following spring would be an added difficulty.
Those who have already booked for March 2021 have been contacted by the Flame board, but if you have any questions, please contact Dom Finn at CYMFed firstname.lastname@example.org. Dom will also be handling new bookings for the revised date.
In their message to group leaders and CYMFed members, Fr Dermott Donnelly, Chair of the CYMFed Board, and Fr Dominic Howarth, Chair of the Flame Planning Group, wrote:
Over the three months of lockdown and isolation we have been in regular dialogue with The SSE Arena, Wembley, as well as with the youth ministry community across the country. It is very clear that schools will only gradually find a new normal during the autumn term, while parish youth activities are also suspended in many cases, as they involve the gathering of groups. Many people are doing heroic work online, in small and large settings, and making a great difference to young people and their families – thank you.
Considering all the factors, and with much uncertainty about how things would look in early 2021, we approached The SSE Arena, Wembley, to ask for a postponement, and we are very pleased to now confirm a new date.
We look forward to welcoming you to Flame2022, and to a wonderful day; we will continue to prepare as fully as possible, and we already have some excellent contacts with speakers and musicians that we should be able to share in the autumn, to be able to give a tremendous lead-in throughout 2021, with lots of inspiration for young people. In particular we will provide some video content for 2nd March 2021 – the original date for Flame – which will be ideal for use with school and parish groups.
With many blessings for your work
