World Youth Day 2016

World Youth Day is the largest gathering of young people in the world. Pope Francis invites the young people to join him on pilgrimage in Krakow, Poland as they explore the theme ‘Blessed are the Merciful for they shall obtain mercy.’ World youth day was first started by Pope Saint John Paul II when he saw the need for young Catholics to come together to celebrate and deepen their faith.

This summer World Youth Day will take place in Krakow, Poland from Monday 25th to Sunday 31st of July 2016. Most pilgrims travel in groups from schools, parishes, diocese, with religious communities or new movements and some take part in the Days in the Diocese around Poland the week before the programme in Krakow
