The Big Church Day Out brings together tens of thousands of Christians, including a growing number of Catholics, from all over the UK and Europe, to worship together in an amazing festival atmosphere.
The event promises the most popular international line up of Christian music artists and worship leaders – and this year it’s twice as good, because it will be duplicated, with one event in Cheshire and one in West Sussex. AND there are several ways to save on tickets!
The event will take place from Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th May 2017 at Wiston House, near Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, and from Friday 2nd – Saturday 3rd June at Capesthorne Hall, near Macclesfield, Cheshire.
BCDO’s Hugh Potter said, “The pioneering idea of BCDO was to create a space where all Christians, no matter what denomination, would come together in unity, and celebrate all that is good. Every year, more and more Catholics have come to the event, and the trend seems to be continuing this year.”
While the great headline artists and worship leaders are undeniably a big draw, Tim Jupp, who originated the Big Church Day Out, urges festival-goers to look deeper. In a recent open letter he writes: “Our heart, and the thing that drives us, is that we believe it’s time for the Church in the UK to come together, to both demonstrate unity as well as to celebrate the diversity of this wonderful living thing called the Church. Our raison d’être for BCDO is John 17:21, that we ‘may be one’ so that ‘the world may see’.”
He highlights the enlightening impact of spending time with people from different Christian traditions, “we perhaps find a moment in time when our ‘positions’ on certain things become a little less important for a while as we take time to appreciate that this thing called Church is made up of many shapes and sizes and expressions of our faith, with the defining factor remaining that it is a personal relationship with the living Jesus that unites us all.”
Catholics have been invited to join the CELEBRATE group this year for BCDO at Wiston House, which means a generous ticket discount, great company and some lovely RC extras like Sunday Mass with Audrey Assad and Matt Maher.
There are more ways to save on tickets for each venue: book by 31st March to get an Early Bird offer, or if you’d like to organise your own group, there are discounted Group Plus tickets.
